Sooo, it's been really warm out the last couple weeks, going to be a cold week this week and into next, but anyways, the warm weather has really opened up the options of what to do on weekends....well....Allison and I go to all sorts of garage sales, mainly in search of gently used clothes/toys/still looking for a high chair, and much more. This past Saturday, we went up to Lee's Summit, about 20-25 minutes from our home to a garage sale that had some furniture. Bedding, sofa/love seats, chairs, dining room table (huge 12 person table) and bedroom sets and really old dressers. So I can upon a big dresser, 3 drawers and then a cabinet like thingy on top. And for those of you who remember, Grandma had (not sure if she still has it) an older Vanity in one of the bedrooms in the farmhouse. well I found one that pretty much looked exactly like it!!! However, they were asking $50 for each one, but then they said they'd take $50 for both the dresser and vanity. Well I couldn't decide so I called Chuck to see what he thought, I also saw a dresser (a longer one) that had a mirror, but it wasn't very sturdy and had a bunch of scratches, etc. So anyways, i had $38 in my pocket and my check book, but didn't really want to spend more than $38. Oh yea, I offered $38 for the dresser before they told me they'd take $50 for both items. So Chuck said to go ahead and get the dresser. So my mind kept a ticking, of how we could make it fit with Allison's furniture. You see, we don't really have a matching set of anything. Dad and Mom gave us the crib, we got a changing table and bassinet at a baby shower and then Dad and Mom also brought down this cute lil dresser for Allison.
So yea, to get to the point, it became our project all day yesterday! We headed to Lowe's in search of some paint or a finish that matches the dresser we already have. We took along a drawer of the dresser to see if they could match it! By golly, they sure matched it! But something really urked me about the guy that matched the paint....he had the guts to paint on the drawer!!! You can clearly see where the paint is, but luckily when it's in the dresser it is a bit harder to spot! But yea, who paints on someone elses furniture!?!?! We didn't ask him to!!!
Okay, sorry had to get that out! Anyways, so we got the paint and some new handles and knobs. So far we have decided we won't put the cabinet doors back on, not sure yet? INput maybe?? So yea, here are some before and after photos....keep in mind, we aren't completely done with it, I still have to put the handles on and possibly do one more coat!!!

I'll post some new photos when it's completely done and up in Allison's room. I think we did such an awesome job on this, don't be surprised if this isn't the last project!!!

That's cute Emily! Too bad you couldn't get the vanity too :( I think it would be cute with or without the doors. They have an interesting pattern on them. Good job!
Very cute! I like the doors also, but it may be easier to leave them off for now and keep stuff in there that you need to grab quickly. Definitely keep the doors to maybe put back on later though!
