Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day to the many dads out there in the world. Especially a Happy 1st Father's Day to Chuck! And a wonderful Father's Day to my wonderful Dad!!! I've learned so much from my dad and I hope Allison can learn from her daddy just as much as I learned from my daddy!!!! It's a lazy day, kind of. Doing some picking up and then a little bit of t.v. watching. Chuck's brother and his girlfriend, Steph, are coming over to grill out for dinner. Sounds like either chicken breasts and sweet corn or beer brauts and sweet corn. I vote for chicken breasts! Anyways, Have a Happy Father's Day Chuck, Dad, Grandpas and Uncles.

Hooray, Allison is 8 months old!!!

Today is the 13th....Allison is now 8 months old!!! Hooray!!! She is quite the lil squirt too!! She has yet to crawl, but she if figuring out how to grab onto things higher than her and tries to pull herself up. She still gets around by just laying down and rolling. Mommy seems to keep finding more ticklish spots too! She is such a cutie pie when she giggles!!! She has also learned how to get her toys out of her bin! She loves tipping it over and pulling every single toy out and tossing them on the floor. Of course, the toy she really wants it on the very bottom!! Gotta love it!

We didn't do much today....but our big news of the day is that we went to a modeling agency audition/interview to meet with an agent. There were probably 30 others there as well, and the agent said that he thinks Allison would do great with Print Ads and possibly even commercials (non speaking of course) and that he would like to represent her. So we have until tomorrow morning to decide, Chuck said that we'll make our own Composite Cards (a card to send out to clients that has about 4 or 5 photos of Allison on it and her age, height, weight, etc.) It'll be cheaper that way. So that was really the big event of the day.

We also played sand volleyball tonight up in Blue Springs. We lost 2 games but won 1 game. It was fun, lots of bugs, but fun. Allison really enjoys watching all the movement and it's great that I'm able to play since another gal brings her girls and they watch Allison.
Okay well, it is way past my bed time!!! Can't wait to see everyone soon!!!!

We are back....finally!!!

For as much as I love traveling to new and exciting places, I'm glad to be back home. Jamaica treated us great, we arrived in Jamaica at our resort after 2 flights and a 2 hour ride in a van to Beaches Boscobel, around 5pm. I guess it was more like a 3 hours drive from the airport to our resort b/c of the road construction. We very much enjoyed our time away. Waking up to the smell of the ocean and the sound of Jamaican music, especially steel drums, then enjoying our morning at the beach or poolside. We would then eat our lunch, usually nachos, chicken sandwiches or quesadillas in our pool chairs, under a shady umbrella. Then we would brace ourselves for the afternoon rain that would just pour and pour on down!!! I'm sure people could tell when it was going to rain just by looking at how frizzle frazzled my curly hair was b/c of the extreme humidity!
Allison was just a doll for her first airplane ride(s). She would get to eat as we took off and then normally fell asleep during the flight. I believe the hum of the airplane engines/jets put her to sleep. And when she was awake, she would entertain herself, a pringles can came in handy during the flight from Memphis to Jamaica. She would just toss it back and forth and bang on it like a drum. The flights back were just as great as again she was a lil angel!
I'm going to talk about all the good stuff before we get into the not so good stuff. The wedding was great to watch and Brenda and Allen stood under a gazebo that had a view of the ocean, we were actually on the beach area. Brenda's 2 boys stood to the side of them. They gave the rings to their mother and now step dad. Such a very simple wedding, as it was just the 4 of them plus Brenda's mother and then Chuck, Allison and I. Made our get togethers and planning stuff much easier. They enjoyed some ocean kayaking, snorkeling and a boat ride. While they were exploring Allison and I enjoyed the beach, scrunching the sand between our toes and taking a few cat naps.
All in all the trip was great. The resort treated us so well, they have great service there!!! Their waiters/waitresses were great. We became fond of Jermaine at the Bayside Restaurant, where we ate our supper every night except the 1st night. And we also loved chatting with our housekeeper Judy! She was very very pleasant and just loved chatting with Allison!!! However, we didn't get to meet Elmo or the rest of the gang. They were on stage one night but they were just ending the show when we sat down for dinner. Maybe next time?!?!?
So, for the not so pleasant part of the trip......going home. We made it from Jamaica to Memphis just fine, but ran into problems of our flight being delayed from Memphis to KC and then the flight eventually being cancelled b/c our crew was still in Little Rock, AR due to their plane having mechanical issues. Woke up the next morning to catch a 6am flight to Minn/St. Paul, which became delayed until 7:50 then back to 7:44. We left at 7:50am and arrived around 10ish in Minn/St. Paul and left for KC around 11:20 and arrived in KC around 12:30. We received breakfast, lunch and dinner vouchers along with hotel voucher for the trouble we had. Spent a short night in the Holiday Inn in Memphis on Monday.....was not a pleasant stay. And we have a $250 voucher per person coming to us in the mail for the flight delays/cancellation.
So that was really our trip in a short story. Will have to tell the WHOLE story if anyone wants to hear it while we are in Okoboji or whenever you see me!! :D We had a great time and can't wait until our next vacation, but not sure if that will be anytime soon.
I actually repacked mine and Allison's suitcases after we arrived back home and then got in the jeep and drove up to Akron. So we are in Akron until Friday, enjoying some time with Jon as he is home for a few days this week. Will head back on Friday with the 2 dogs "in toe." Which reminds me....they spell tire in Jamaica...TYRE. Found that hilarious! No photo though!
Getting excited for our trip back up here at the end of the month to Okoboji! Planning on coming up on Tuesday, just not sure if Chuck will be up there with us right away...maybe on Friday. And we will stay the rest of the week.
Anyway, wrote a book. Chuck uploaded our photos, so just click on the link to the right and check out our Jamaica photos!!!!
Hope this finds everyone doing well!!!! Until the next blog.....
